Tata Steel wins Best Stall Award at the India International Trade Fair

JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel participated and was recognized for putting up the Best Stall (among private industries) at the 31st edition of the annual mega trade fair, the India International Trade Fair (IITF) held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14-27 November, 2011.

The Tata Steel stall at the Jharkhand Pavilion was visited by Arjun Munda,  Chief Minister, Jharkhand and other dignitaries from the State and thousands of visitors from across country.

The graceful dignitaries highly appreciated the themes of preservation and promotion of tribal art and culture that the stall primarily focused upon. Along with colourful presentation of Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, the Company’s display had an additional feature of live demonstration of the age old handicraft Dokra by two artisans.

The presences of the two Dokra artisans from Mandu block of Ramgarh district, attracted many visitors to the stall. These artists displayed an array of clay models that attracted youths and aged alike.

Several industrial heads, people in general and hordes of students who visited the Jharkhand pavilion were attracted to this live display of one of the ancient art of this land and posed several queries to the artisans about their art who were shaping various figurines with their nimble fingers.

The tribal artisans at the stall shaped initially to clay model and then cast it to iron mould. For these Dokra artists, Gudan and Moti, the awesome display in IITF and razzmatazz of New Delhi was itself an experience for lifetime for which they thanked the steel major for giving them the chance to travel all the way from their non-descript village to the capital of the country.

Talking about Tata Steel’s stall in Jharkhand pavilion, its colourful and deftly designed texture resembled tribal houses of Jharkhand. The shapes of the panel depicting the endeavor of the steel giant in various annals of social life of tribals attracted the visitor’s attention. The entire stall gave an ambience of tribal house nestling a modern steel company’s odyssey in reaching out to the society for which it cares.

The faces that sparkles in the horizon of Jharkhand – of  Deepika Kumari, splashed all across the stall to give it an aura of home away from home to all those who lives and breathes for Jharkhand.

IITF is a major tourist attraction and lakhs of people visit the fair every year. This annual event provides a common platform for the manufacturers, traders, exporters and importers. The fair displays comprises a wide range of products and services including Automobiles, Coir Products, Jute, Textiles, Garments, Household Appliance, Kitchen Appliances, Processed food, Beverages, Confectionery, Drugs, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Cosmetics, Bodycare & Health care products, Telecommunication, Power sector, Electronic Sector, Furniture, Home Furnishings, Sports Goods, Toys, Engineering Goods etc.

IITF offers to participants from different segments of industry adequate visibility for their products and services among fair visitors with demarcated halls representing different sectors.

Through its Special Display sections of techmart, representing products and technologies of small and medium enterprises, Saras, Highlighting tribal and rural handicrafts, and Good Living, with focus on products and goods relevant to daily living, the fair ensures a distinct visibility for generic product categories. These represent engineering, software and hardware, automobiles, electronics, telecom, leather, textiles, handicrafts, jewelry, furniture and furnishings besides a wide range of consumer goods.
