ANGUL (ODISHA): Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) annoucncedt that it has been awarded ‘Large-Scale Industry Award’ for ‘Best Stall’ for the second consecutive year at the 16th edition of ‘CII Enterprise Odisha-2011’, which was concluded at Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
This year, the theme of the event was ‘Business for Livelihood’, which was aptly showcased by the participants who also availed themselves of the opportunity to showcase their corporate policy, CSR initiatives, upcoming projects and brand building in the heart of Odisha.
Befitting the theme, Jindal Steel & Power Limited focused on highlighting its relentless endeavour to provide sustainable livelihood to the local communities through its different CSR activities targeting various beneficiary groups including farmers, women and children and encouragement to various SHGs for achieving an inclusive growth.
“Shaping up the lives of the community is the focal point of our corporate mission. We reiterate our support to enhance the opportunities of employability of the local people and shall undertake all such initiatives which will facilitate the youth to derive benefit of industrialization,” informed Mr Rajesh Jha, Executive Director, Jindal Steel & Power Limited, Angul.
The mega trade fair, that was organized by the Odisha Chapter of the Confederation of India Industry (CII) in association with the Odisha Government from November 25-29, witnessed participation of around 200 stalls, both small and big, installed by various industries as well as government corporations and NGOs.
Among the major participants from the large-scale industries were JSPL, Jindal Stainless Steel Ltd, NALCO, IPICOL, Tata Steel, Tata Sponge Iron Ltd, IFFCO, Vedanta and Paradip Phospates Limited.
The coveted award was handed over by Mr CJ Venugopal, CMD, IPICOL, at 2.30 pm on Tuesday, and Mr Prashant Kumar Hota, AVP (CC, CSR and R&R), Jindal Steel & Power Limited, received the award.
Also another highlight of JSPL was the unique model installed in the stall on ‘Watershed Management Programme’, which focuses on promotion of sustainable livelihood by judicious management of water, land, forest and live stocks. It was highly appreciated by the visitors.
‘CII Enterprise Odisha-2011’ – the mega event that aimed at exploring business opportunities in the State and providing an impetus to investors – had been inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Industries, Steel & Mines Raghunath Mohanty on November 25. T. Tamachandru, Principal Secretary, Industries department, had graced the occasion as Guest of honor. BL Bagra, Chairman, CII-Odisha State Council, had delivered the welcome address.
The five-day-long trade fair was thronged by thousands of visitors who included businessmen, NGOs, common people, media persons and students from schools, colleges, B-Schools and also universities.
Receiving the award on behalf of JSPL, Mr PK Hota said, “In the JSPL stall, the theme ‘Business for Livelihood’ has encompassed the sustainable livelihood mission promoted by the company to support the community in all occupational profiles.”
Mr Jagatendu Parija, VP (Corporate Affairs), JSPL, said, “The stall exhibited the passion of JSPL for the people of Odisha.”
