National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conclave Held in Cochin

COCHIN: The Department of Public Enterprises, Govt of India, National CSR Hub, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) jointly conducted a Corporate Social Responsibility Conclave for the Public Sector Undertaking of the Southern Region.

The event was hosted by Cochin Shipyard Limited. The conclave was attended by senior officials from various leading corporates like ONGC, NMDC, GAIL, BHEL, HAL, MRPL etc.

As per the present government guidelines, every PSU is compulsorily required to set apart 2 to 5% of its Net Profits for CSR Projects. The Department of Public Enterprises has issued detailed guidelines about the type of projects to be taken up under CSR, evaluation of projects, independent assessment etc. The aim of the conclave was to impress on the PSUs the need for sustainable development and the role of CSR as envisioned by the Department of Public Enterprises.

DRS Choudhury, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of HI & PE, presided over the entire proceedings. Shri Ashok Kumar Pavadia, Joint Secretary, DPE, Prof Venkatesh Kumar, Director, National CSR Hub , TISS and Cmde K Subramaniam, CMD, CSL were also present.
