DEHRADUN: After 2nd successful “CSR and MDGs Orientation Meet” held last year in Dehradun, Green Earth Alliance (GEA) is moving ahead and proposing another day-long orientation cum sensitization meet on April 5, 2012 on “CSR Essentials” in “Rudrapur”, new industrial town of Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.
“GEA is expecting around 100+ delegates from corporate, Govt., Academia, NGOs, Media and MSMEs and CSR Consultants to come and discuss the latest issues related with CSR, ISO26000, BSCI and Social Accountability etc. The meet will also help all participants to learn from leading CSR practitioners to acquire in-depth knowledge and prepare for crucial tools/resources to develop strategic CSR framework for their organizations.” Anil Jaggi, ICT4D and CSR Consultant, CEO of Green Earth Alliance informed INDIA CSR.
The biggest diseases in the country today are “hunger, poverty, unhygienic and unequal social conditions” etc. Large number of population still living under stressed economic condition without basic human needs. Our natural resource consumption has gone beyond what we can sustain, resulting serious damage to our environment.
It is always easy to blame Govt. alone for it, but business and Pvivate Sector can also do better, just as they have done for their own cause. That’s no way for society to prosper, so business must show their concern and work for larger good.
“Charity”, “Philanthropy”, “Responsible Business Reporting” and “CSR” etc is new vocabulary for Indian business fraternity and also helping them to make impressive annual report by highlighting CSR related activities around them.
Post-liberalisation era and advent of virtual world (ICT) also brought new champions in this domain. Especially MNCs like Vodaphone, Cairn Energy, Intel, IBM, Microsoft etc. are entering Indian market with defined CSR agenda and budget. Indian companies are also working hard to make CSR integral part of their agenda. But some of them are floating or preferring their own foundations under their CSR division like what is done by Wipro, HCL, Infosys, Bharti, Deshpande Group, Tata, Ambuja Cement , ICICI etc.
Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India has issued guidelines to Indian PSUs on CSR, Multi-nation’s are following different parameters of global standards like “ISO 26000, UNGC, OECD, GRI” etc. But still lot of confusion and clarity is needed for Pvt. Sectors to know various recognised parameters and globally accepted reporting formats for their activities.
As CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) movement has made headway in developing and implementing systems that enable Corporate/Pvt. Sector to improve productivity, while complying with social and ecological standard and working towards inclusive development an equitable growth. But right direction and clear cut strategy on CSR framework is missing link for keen organizations.
In an effort to develop responsible and ethical business practices, do capacity building, “Green Earth Alliance” (Socio-commercial Offshoot of SFID) is working hard to create awareness on basic understanding for beginners and helping them to develop their strategic framework required to build CSR related capacity for concerned Human resources for Pvt. sector and bridge the gap between social and sustainable development agenda and corporate understanding by organising series of “Orientation- Awareness programs on CSR” all over India in collaboration with, Corporate India, Govt., Civil Society Groups, Academia, INGOs and business bodies like CII, FICCI- Aditya Birla CSR Centre of Excellence and chamber of Commerce in different states.
GEA is partnering with INDIA CSR (Largest CSR portal) for its upcoming CSR Conference at Ramada Plaza Palm Grove, Juhu Beach, Mumbai on 9th May 2012 and planning to organize similar awareness programs in Pune, Bangalore, Jaipur and Chennai later this year.
Green Earth Alliance (GEA) is also working with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Govt. of Netherland project (CBI) to help Indian and Dutch companies looking for European and India market and following strict CSR related compliance in respective countries/regions.
