KORBA: Balco Captive Power Plant 540 MW, based in Korba, Chhattisgarh won the “Most Innovative Environmental Project” award organized by Confederation of Indian Industry at CII – Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, Hyderabad on 10February 2012.

Out of 27 shortlisted companies in India, Balco CPP 540 MW environment project titled “Installation of hybrid bag filter in operational ESP” was evaluated as one of the most innovative environmental project by the panel of judges based on the application and presentation made before the jury.

The presentation on project carried out based on the Uniqueness of the project, Tangible and Intangible benefits achieved, Replication potential and learning from other industries, Challenges faced during implementation and achieving/reaching National/International Standards.

Implementation of Hybrid bag filter in CPP 540 MW is first of its kind in Power sector in an operating unit, which has resulted in substantial reduction of emission. The journey for completion of this project involved a time period of 57 days with a huge capital investment. This work had also been appreciated by Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board. The award had won due to the contribution of various efforts from the O&M team of CPP 540 MW.

“We are committed to continuous improvement in environmental aspects of its business by adopting sustainable business model.” Balco said in the statement.
