DHEKANAL (Odisha): The fire brigade team of GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) has saved the Durgapur village in Hindol block in the district by successfully extinguishing the fire that devastated two families in the village on March 30 mid-night. Senior officials of GKEL and GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), a non-profit wing of GMR Group, met the affected families and distributed relief materials and assured them to provide seven days ration free of cost.
The fire brigade team had reached at the spot on time and put out the fire immediately that prevented possible spread of fire to neighbouring houses of the village. The villagers of Durgapur have appreciated the fire brigade team of GKEL for the immediate step and rescuing the two families.
“I express my deep concern to the affected two families, who have lost their property in the fire mishap. Our fire brigade team had reached the spot on time and put out the fire immediately,” Mr. K V. V. Rao, Managing Director, GKEL, said. Two families were affected and are homeless in the fire accident. GKEL senior employees’ including Mr. Sanatan Senapati, GM, General Administration and External Affairs and Mr. Bijay Kumar Nayak, Adviser, Corporate Relations, met the affected families of the village and distributed relief material to them. GKEL and GMRVF have distributed relief materials including utensils, rice, dal, clothes and tarpaulin etc. and assured the affected families to provide seven days ration free of cost. “We are very grateful to GKEL. They are very friendly and helped us a lotimmediately,” Mr. Murali Naik, one of the affected, said.
Earlier, GKEL had extended its helping hand to the fire victims of Kansara village in Dhenkanal district. GKEL is providing round-the-clock ambulance facility for the benefit of the local villagers, adjacent to the project site. The company has been conducting regular health check-up camps for the local villagers.
