LANJIGARH: The alumina refinery of Vedanta Aluminium Limited (VAL) at Lanjigarh, Orissa has been conferred with RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award 2012.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) started the Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme in 1956, making it the largest and longest running programme of its kind in UK. It recognizes commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organizations of all types and sizes from across the world.

According to Dr. Mukesh Kumar, President & Chief Operating Officer, VAL-Lanjigarh, “Vedanta is committed to health and safety, an approach that is well recognised to be good for workers and the bottom line. With our consistent efforts, we are moving towards achieving our goal of zero harm at the plant site”. The ROSPA Silver award will be presented to VAL in London at a ceremony on 15 May 2012.
