LANJIGARH: A total of 1525 children of Lanjigarh periphery below the age group of five were covered in the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme conducted by the Govt. Health Department, Kalahandi and supported by Vedanta Aluminium Limited (VAL), Lanjigarh on April 15, 2012.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar – President & Chief Operating Officer, VAL-Lanjigarh, inaugurated the programme at Vedanta Hospital by administering Polio Vaccine to several children. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mukesh Kumar said, “Children are the future of our society and to provide them better health care is our prime responsibility.”
Also present from VAL were Rabi Narayan Mishra – Head-Health, Safety and Environment; Avilash Dwivedi – Head-CSR; Dr. Sabita Swain – Chief Medical Officer-Vedanta Hospital; G Anuradha, Srimukha Agasty, Sridhartha Behera and others.
A total of 14 booths were organized to cover the 1525 numbers of children at the Lanjigarh area like – Basantpada, Niyamgiri Vedanta Nagar, Jagannathpur, Balabhadrapur, Trilochanpur, Kapaguda,, Maskapadar, Turiguda etc.
VAL provided logistics support to the Govt. Health Department in conducting the programme successfully. Earlier, under the guidance of Mr. Avilash Dwivedi, the CSR team members of VAL conducted extensive awareness drive to mobilize the community for active participation in the immunization programme.
