NEW DELHI: Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy of Coal India Limited (CIL) 5% of the retained earnings of previous year subject to minimum of 5/- per tonne of coal production of previous year is allocated towards CSR fund. It may be pertinent to note that the amount that remains unutilized out of the allocated fund is added to the next year’s Budget. Hence, the entire CSR fund shall be gainfully utilized.
The Medical College at Talcher is yet to be started, but actions have already been initiated with the Government of Odisha for requisite action towards forest clearance and subsequent acquisition of land by MCL. Though opening of Medical College at Talcher is a popular demand of the local people.
This information was given by the Minister of State of Coal, Shri Pratik Prakashbapu Patil in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
