BHILWARA:- Tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on 8 May 2012 between Hindustan Zinc Limited, Jila Parishad (District Administration) , and NGO partners at District Collector’s office, Bhilwara, Rajasthan.
Hindustan Zinc Limited has joined hands with Jila Parishad for providing support in household toilets under Mukhya mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (Chief Minister Rural BPL Housing Scheme) which aims to provide shelter to BPL families in rural areas. The sanitation project will be aligned with centrally sponsored scheme, Total Sanitation Campaign which is a comprehensive programme to ensure sanitation facilities in rural areas with broader goal to eradicate the practice of open defecation in all the houses constructed under Mukhya mantri Gramin BPL Awas Yojana and in BPL household.
The MoU was signed by Mr Laxman Singh Shekhawat, Unit Head -Rampura Agucha Mine on behalf of Hindustan Zinc Limited and Mr.K.C.Meena, CEO-Jila Parishad and chairpersons of NGO partners.
The main objective of Sanitation project is to eradicate the practice of open defecation, improve the general quality of life in rural areas and to inculcate hygiene practices by change of attitude in people.
A. Bring about an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas.
B. Accelerate sanitation coverage in rural areas to access to toilets in all targeted families.
C. Motivate communities and Panchayati Raj Institutions promoting sustainable sanitation facilities through awareness creation and health education.
D. In rural areas, cover schools by March 2013 and Anganwadis by March 2013, with sanitation facilities and promote hygiene education and sanitary habits among students.
E. Encourage cost effective and appropriate technologies for ecologically safe and Sustainable sanitation.
10,000 BPL families selected under Mukhya mantri Gramin BPL Awas Yojana and BPL family will be will provided a financial assistance of Rs 2500 per HH toilet by Hindustan Zinc Limited and Zila Parishad will contribute Rs 3200 under TSC and Rs 1200 under MNREGA.
Hindustan Zinc Ltd will implement the Sanitation project in 3 Panchayat Samities of Bhilwara district in collaboration with NGO partners. The project will be implemented by Action for Community Empowerment, Udaipur in Hurda Panchayat Samiti, Social Welfare & Cultural Society, Jaipur in Mandal Panchayat Samiti and Bharukha Charitable Trust in Kotdi Panchayat Samiti.
On this Occasion Mr.Onkar Singh, District Collector,Bhilwara, Mr.Gajmal Jaat UP- Zillaparmukh,Bhilwara, Mr.S.K.Singh, GM-Admin & Liasion, Mr.Jawaid Ahsan, AM-CSR, Mr.Dinesh Chaudhary, District Project Coordinator-TSC Bhilwara were also present
