JAMSHEDPUR: Exhilarating, entertaining and engaging – these are adjectives perhaps best suited to describe the finals of the Tata Steel Inter Quiz Contest 2012.
A packed Tata Auditorium at XLRI welcomed all the quiz enthusiasts as Mr Lloyd Saldanha, the renowned quiz master, and his assistant Mr H N Shridhar from GreyCaps commenced proceedings and set a brisk pace with the regional finals.
The following eight teams made it to the India final after a pitched battle.

Carmel Junior College- Shubham Acharya & N Shalini Srinivasan
DAV Public School Pokhariput, Bhubaneshwar- Alankar Devta & Swabhiman Choudhury
Jamshedpur Public School- Sourabh Kumar & Arnab Sen
Rajendra Vidyalaya- Kishlay Raj & Avnish Ranjan
Little Flower School- Abayankar Joshi & Rupam Kumar Dubey
Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Ranchi- Shaurya Singh & Sreeja Shambhavi
The quiz was fast paced with loads of humour both from the teams and the host as they enjoyed every moment of the finale. At the end of the day, DAV Public School Pokhariput, Bhubaneshwar, after a valiant battle had to settle for a credible third while Rajendra Vidyalaya was declared the second runner’s up and Loyola School as the winner.
Chief Guest Dr Himani Pande, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Singhbhum (East), described the afternoon as an “exhilarating one’’ and congratulated the talented youngsters as “ace quizzers who braved the upcoming examination tension with their quizzing passion”.
Also present on the occasion were Ms Surekha Nerurkar, Ms Srimanti Sen and Mr M G Singh, Chief, Administration (Corporate Services). Ms Jenny Shah, Head, CFE & Public Relations, proposed the final vote of thanks.

The competition was part of a series organized by Tata Steel. Approximately 200 teams from Jamshedpur participated in today’s competition. After the regional rounds in Ranchi, Raipur and Bhubaneswar, the finals today were held in Jamshedpur. The competition included teams from the regional rounds vying for the final spots. There were also attractive prizes for the audience.
