JAMSHEDPUR: The training of onsite safety supervisor empowers the youth of the society and serves to improve the safety standards across all project sites wherein Tata Steel vendors work.
Working as an employability enabler, Tata Steel has been imparting vocational skills to assist youth to help them get entry for jobs in various sectors. The objective is to convert the potential talent pool into a trained and readily employable force. Utilising pool of in-house resource persons, Urban Services, a unit of Corporate Sustainability Services, Tata Steel has been conducting in-house trainings on site safety supervisor since long time now.
After the successful implementation of Site Safety Supervisor program in seven batches in Jamshedpur, the programme for the eighth batch was launched today by Mr Ravi Shanker Pandey, Senior Manager, Urban Services, Tata Steel.
The programme aims at providing self-employment opportunities to enhance family income and to facilitate a regular source of income to the youth of the catchment areas. 25 candidates have been selected for the training from the Contracts Cell working under various contractors and will be undergoing a training programme of five-weeks that covers all aspects of safety.
Mr C B Prasad, Safety Officer, SHE Training Centre, Mr Basant Singh, Manager, Urban Services, Mrs Gurbari Hembram, Manager, Urban Services, Area Officers of our community centres and others were present during the function.
