BHOPAL: With the objective of enhancing greenery, Dainik Bhaskar Group has started a plantation drive across India, which will encourage people to plant at least one sapling in their lifetime. Under this drive during the monsoon lakhs of saplings will be planted.
The campaign “Ek Ped Ek Zindagi” (One Tree, One Life) started in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra and will involve schools, colleges, NGOs, etc.
Today, nearly 50% of the world’s natural forests are gone and deforestation continues unabated because of urbanization, land development, unsustainable logging practices, and insect infestations due to global trade and climate change.
Dainik Bhaskar is running the campaign “Ek Ped Ek Zindagi” to create awareness among people to increase and maintain the greenery that is currently prevailing. The main theme of the campaign is to encourage people to plant at least one tree in their lifetime and not only plant the sapling/tree but also take care and nurture it till it becomes a fully grown tree.
Green Ambulance
In order to make this campaign more effective Dainik Bhaskar has also initiated a concept named “Green Ambulance” to encourage people to join in the campaign in masses. People who would like to plant trees can call the Dainik Bhaskar team and it will approach them to plant trees in their localities or areas. Through Green Ambulance saplings/trees will be planted in various schools, colleges, colonies and societies in association with forest departments, Local Nurseries, local samitis and sansthas.
Till date under the campaign “Ek Ped Ek Zindagi” we have planted more than 1 lakh saplings across the states where Danik Bhaskar has presence.
Green Idol Awards
Dainik Bhaskar is also organizing ‘Green Idol Awards’ for the first time and is felicitating individuals & groups. From all over the country we have received thousands of entries from individuals, groups and even corporate houses who have played a significant role in increasing and maintaining greenery and also encouraged people to join hands with them. The winners are being finalized by a panel of Jury members which comprises of experts from their fields related to plants and greenery.
