NEW DELHI: In order to identify all those responsible for the violence at its Manesar plant on July 18, automobile major Maruti Suzuki is conducting an internal probe.
According to reports, Maruti’s top management has met the employees injured in the attack and the supervisors and managers of the Manesar plant.
“The company continues to remain concerned about the safety and security of its people. Hence, it is not in a position to take a decision on resuming operations at the Manesar plant. The injured employees continue to receive medical care and attention,” said company officials.
Maruti General Manager HR, Awanish Kumar Dev, was among 100 managers and supervisors injured in the violence at the Manesar plant on July 18. Several sustained injuries and had to be hospitalized.
Meanwhile, shares in Maruti Suzuki fell more than 5 percent after the chairman of the auto maker said over the weekend the Manesar factory hit by a deadly riot is not yet ready to reopen.
Maruti Suzuki’s RC Bhargava also said it was impossible to import extra vehicles or shift lost production to another plant.
The company has also postponed the launch of new 800 cc small car.
