Uttar Pradesh Government to come out with New Policy in Healthcare: Mukesh Meshram, Director NRHM

LUCKNOW: On bridging the healthcare gap, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Uttar Pradesh organized CSR Conclave on 28 August 2012 at Lucknow. The main aim to organize the Conclave was to come up with a strategy to bridge the wide gap existing in the Health Sector of Uttar Pradesh and to provide amicable solutions for the same.

Mr Alok Saxena, Chairman, CII Uttar Pradesh State Council in his welcome remarks said that the healthcare industry in India has seem momentous expansion over the past decade with positive protrusion for the future. However, despite the growth and progress , the country continues to grapple with major challenges including healthcare delivery and management.

Mr Rajeev Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, ACC highlighted the towards Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives taken by ACC. He addressed in detail about the initiatives in Healthcare sector taken by ACC .

Mr Mukesh Meshram speaking on the initiatives being taken by Uttar Pradesh Government in Health sector said that Uttar Pradesh Government has recently launched Five Year Term Uttar Pradesh Health Systems Strengthening Project with Rupees Eight Hundred Crore Funding from World Bank. The project will involve comprehensive study of the health sector and the suitable models and agreements for the state. He further shared that the PPP in health sector policy with which Government is planning to open 18 regional diagnostic centres under PPP mode for which there will be no diagnostic charges for Below Poverty Line people and for Above Poverty Line there will be a nominal fee.

“Government is considering operating the District Hospitals and Community Healthcare Centres & launching Super Speciality Clinics Hospitals under PPP Mode. 150 Medical Mobile Units have already been sanctioned under NRHM to extend the reach of the Medical Services to the remote places. Also through different voucher schemes like MerryGold Gold , MerrySilver, Sambhav government is trying to provide quality healthcare services to the poor”.he shared further.

Mr Abhishek Mishra, Minister Protocol, Government of Uttar Pradesh shared his vision towards the gap existing in the Healthcare Sector of Uttar Pradesh. He told that if UP become country then it will be 5th largest country in the World. He told that adequate resource planning is needed so as to fill in the gap and to provide Health facilities to all in the State. He suggested Corporate to devise a mechanism for Sustainable CSR in their agenda.

The Conclave was well attended by 125 Corporate from in and around Uttar Pradesh.
