GURGAON: DLF Foundation celebrated this Christmas by organising a gifting weekfrom 17th -23th December 2014. The initiative was started to bringsmile on the faces of underprivilegedchildren and making this a memorable fest for them. 20 boxes were placed in the different areas of Gurgaon for the people to donate gifts, woollen clothes, toys etc. for the underprivileged. People were requested that the clothes are clean and ironed, books stationary and toys are in working condition, woollens and footwear are in good condition.
Various items were collectedfrom those boxes, like toys, woollens, schools essentials, children’s clothes, children’s footwear, blankets etc. and then giftedit to the underprivileged at various DLF Construction sites on 24th December.A small Christmas event was organised for all of them where gifts were distributed among 200-250construction labourers and their kids at DLF Construction sites.
A construction labourer from Bihar who was a part of the DLF Foundation’s Christmas event expressed his happiness and gratitude towards DLF Foundation. He said “Many of us and our kids didn’t even knew about this Christmas festival, but DLF foundation has helped us and our kids to know about Christmas and celebrate this festival. The woollen clothes, books and toys that they have given us are priceless for us.” Ramesh Manjhi a constructor worker at DLF site
Lt. Gen. Rajendra Singh, CEO DLF foundation said “Workers come from 1000 miles just to work here and to earn for their families. Bringing lives together at the construction sites is not an easy task. Christmas is not a festival just to celebrate but this is to bring the real happiness among everyone. Others should also join the hands for distributing happiness among them.This small contribution helped the labourers and their children in a long way.”
