Khushi, Sensitizing People Towards Care for Underprivileged Children

UDAIPUR: On April 10, 2012 Vedanta group launched its first social media campaign “Khushi – ‘Care for the Under-Privileged Children in India’.

“Khushi” is a mission started on fulfilling the objective and let know the world that India does “Care for the Un-Privileged Children” – their Nutrition – Education – Health and overall development.

Campaign “Khushi” aims to sensitize people at large, particularly the youth of today, towards the need for care for these children. The campaign has been launched through a blog that besides informing people about the alarming situation of poor children in India also posts heart touching stories of people who help underprivileged children. Now schools, colleges, opinion makers etc. are joining this campaign and taking it forward.

“Khushi” Facebook page, has already carried out three successful on-line discussion on ‘Eradication of Child Labour’,  ‘Increasing Menace of Child Beggary in India’ and ‘Problem of malnourishment in underprivileged children – role of Govt. & Corporates’. About 300 plus people participated and expressed their views some of which are also placed on the blog.

The KHUSHI GROUP is already having more than 1700 members in just about 45 days and more than 13,400 page views.

It is alarming, India houses the maximum number of children in the world, larger than China. Various reports inform that every 3rd malnourished child in the world lives in India. More so India contributes to more than 20% of the child deaths in the world.

This campaign has been initiated with a thought that government, corporates and NGOs together cannot do it all and there has to be a direct participation from common people. People need to be sensitive towards this issue & concern and participate equally for its prevention and cure.

Vedanta group has been partnering with Central Government and State Governments of Rajasthan, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, towards this mission, through adoption of over 5500 Anganwadi Centres and supporting nutrition, health and education of such under-privileged children. It is a model that can be replicated. The company aims to ensure that no child in India remains malnourished and they get their basic needs as nutrition – health – education.

As the word “KHUSHI” says it all, it is a feeling of inner happiness, a gesture that says more than the words – a true spirit and an honest reciprocation. It is a contentment of fulfilling an objective or a mission close to the heart. Join the campaign.
