PUNE: Lavasa Corporation Ltd (LCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility has taken an initiative towards the socio-economic development of women through SHGs in the project areas by upgrading their skills through five days capacity building workshop at Lavasa.
The workshop was organized in three phases initially it was one day program between 11-13th Nov’14 for three groups where 155 women from 10 SHGs got oriented on concept of SHGs and role of each member. In the program opening note Dy City Manager Mr. Satish Kamat said,”Lavasa is always conscious about the development of people in the project area, capacity building of SHGs by CSR department is a step taken towards empowering women through SHGs for their socio-economic development. Lavasa will continue hand holding support in future.”
Second and third phase of each two days (27-28 Nov’14 & 9-10 Nov’14) were focused on financial planning, linkages development, business planning and leadership development. Groups were given task on each topic and asked to present in front of other groups. Women enjoyed the activity and did great presentation, it was first time in their life when such presentation was given.
On this occasion Mr. Ramesh Jamdhade, AVP HR says,”Lavasa has taken a very good initiative to create an employment to the housewives who can earn money while managing their families”.
The main objective of this workshop was to develop conceptual understanding among groups about functioning of SHGs and their role in society for community development, to enhance the quality of life through up gradation of their knowledge on income generation activity.
At the end of workshop women came forward and assured trainers that the knowledge and information received from this workshop will be used for SHGs development and will show the result in coming days. They thanked Lavasa and trainers for such resourceful training. At the closing of workshop Lavasa CSR head Mr. Upendra Sontakke said,” I am happy to see the interest of women for receiving the knowledge, we will be continuing our hand holding support to these groups till they become independent. Our focus will be to link these SHGs with banks for financial support and technical knowledge on business activity. In next one year we wish to see these groups with well resulted income generation activity which will enhance their socio-economic status in the society.”
