Naveen Jindal to be given the Justice P.N. Bhagwati Award on 5 December

NEW DELHI: Capital Foundation Society is awarding the Justice P.N. Bhagwati Award to Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University for his outstanding contribution to the field of legal education and corporate philanthropy.

This award will be given by His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India in the distinguished presence of  Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir, Judge, Supreme Court of India at India Islamic Culture Centre, New Delhi on December 5, 2011.

By way of his philanthropic contribution, Mr Jindal has set an extraordinary example for many industrialists to be inspired to make their philanthropic contribution to education.

Mr Jindal, Member of Parliament, is the Chairman & Managing Director of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. He is Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). JGU is a non-profit global university established by the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009. JGU is established in memory of the Mr. O.P. Jindal as a philanthropic initiative of Mr. Naveen Jindal, the Founding Chancellor. More than Rupees 200 crore invested to set up O.P. Jindal Global University.

Mr. Justice P.N. Bhagwati is one of the most distinguished jurists of the world and was the Chief justice of India. Justice Bhagwati was also responsible for initiating wide ranging reforms relating to access to justice, judicial process and legal education. The Patron of the Capital Foundation Society is Mr. Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, former Judge, Supreme Court of India, who is also the Chairman of the Awards Jury.

Capital Foundation Society is also organizing “Capital Foundation Annual Lecture” on the occasion .  Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India and Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir, Judge, Supreme Court of India will address the Lecture.
