JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel recognised the efforts of the members of the Indian Archery team for London Olympics, 2012 today, by welcoming ace archers Deepika Kumari and Jayant Talukdar, in a modest function held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel welcomed the Olympians in the presence of other dignitaries from Tata Steel and TFA cadets.
The felicitation ceremony was organized in a bid to celebrate the successful participation of the archers from Tata Archery Academy, who are also managers with the company, at the on-going Olympics in London and the efforts put-in by them at the most coveted sporting event on earth. Tata Steel also appreciated the efforts of the archers in earning the Olympic berth and ensured of the impending support to them for their future endeavors.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel said, “We welcome our archers on behalf of Tata Steel and congratulate them on their milestone of competing and participating at the Olympics. We are sure that this experience will help them take their performances to a higher level and the hard work they put in will definitely lead them ahead.”
He also added that, “both Deepika and Jayant are very young and they will get many more opportunities ahead in their journey to excellence. We will analyze their performances and keep working harder for an even better future. The support from Tata Steel will always be there and we will ensure that their preparation for future tournaments remain flawless. The sportsperson we have are very much capable of being the best and they will keep on preparing as they have done till date.”
Deepika and Jayant, winners of several national and international laurels shared their experience of competing under tremendous pressure at international matches such as the Olympics and earnestly focussing on improving their gaming skills with regular practice hereafter. They said they have learnt that there is scope of significant improvements in my sporting techniques which they will surely adopt to perform better in the upcoming matches.
Coach Ms Purnima Mahato said, “Players must always look at the positive side of things, be correctly prepared, committed, see situations as challenges not problems and trust themselves. We must accept them for the way they are whilst understanding their strengths and working on their weaknesses. And here, at Tata Archery Academy we will ensure that such parameters are taken care of.”
Tata Archery Academy
The Tata Archery Academy was established in 1996 in the interest of nurturing and promoting the talents in the field of Archery. The academy provides all the requisite training facilities, highly efficient Coaches, state-of –art equipment from India and abroad as well as Hostel facility. It inducts boys and girls at the age group of 13 to 18 years for 4 years course. The performance of each cadet is being reviewed and extension to boys & girls are given on the basis of their performance and their potential to further excel.
The objective of the academy is to inspire talented youth to achieve excellence in archery through sustained scientific training. It is also committed in the continuous improvement of the performances of the cadets at the national and international level. The recently concluded archery events at the London Olympics witnessed the participation of Deepika Kumari and Jayant Talukdar who both are product of the Tata Archery Academy. The academy takes pride in gifting the country with prodigious talents like them and bringing laurels to the country.
