Objective of the camp was to help the youths in selecting their career by making them aware of the various career options available in today’s society and to help them in making a correct decision for their career.
JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), Jamshedpur organized a two day residential career guidance camp for rural youth at JRD Complex on March 22-23, 2012. 200 rural boys and girls from the five blocks, namely, Jamshedpur, Potka, Gamharia, Patamda and Saraikella participated in the two day camp. These youth were from the various programmes of TSRDS like Pre-Matric coaching, Vocational Training, Sports, etc. The main objective of the camp was to help the youths in selecting their career by making them aware of the various career options available in today’s society and to help them in making a correct decision for their career.
The chief guest of the programme was Mrs Shrimanti Sen, Social Worker and Mr Rakeshwar Pandey, President, Tata Mazdoor Union. Mrs Sen expressed her happiness that how lucky the youths were to get an opportunity of career guidance organized by Tata Steel. Mr Rakeshwar Pandey inspired the youth by giving examples from his personal life and spoke of the importance of channelizing the energy in the positive direction as in the hands of today’s youth lies the future.
The resource persons for the two day camp were Mr Shriman and his team from ‘Shriman Coaching Classes’, Sakchi for career guidance, Mr Shekhar, from MRA for sharing with the youth the success stories and overcoming the failures and Mrs Shailja, from Basera, on personality development. Mr Deepak Bhatia, Head of CSR Taj Group, showed a film on Hospitality industry and skill training programme and discussed the various opportunities for youths in the hospitality industry.
Others present were Mr Debdoot Mohanty, Hony Secy, TSRDS, Mrs Dilith Castleton, Hony, Jt Secy, TSRDS and Mr Dadan Singh, General Secy, TSRDS, Union. M. Debdoot Mohanty welcomed the guests and encouraged the youth to make most of the two day programme. Mrs Dilith Castelton gave a brief report of the activities of TSRDS in youth development in rural areas and thanked the guests for their valuable presence in the programme.
