NEW DELHI: Asia-Pacific Institute of Management organised a “CSR Conclave: Youth for Seva ” on 27June 2012. The audience was addressed by some leaders in the area of CSR. The esteemed guest speakers in the conclave included Dr. KK Upadhyay (Head CSR- FICCI), Mr. Ashwani Kumar (Ex-GM, CSR, BHEL), Mr. Gangan C Sharma (Head- CSR, TUV Rhienland India) and Ms. Harsha Mukherjee (Editor- INDIACSR). Prof. Chetan Bajaj welcomed the guests to the CSR conclave. Prof. Saurabh Mittal gave the event introduction and highlighted the need of discussions on CSR for the aspiring managers. The talk was taken further with an interactive session by Mr. Ganga C Sharma about the different dimensions of CSR, auditing standards and its utility.
Mr. Ashwani Kumar discussed about the Government directions, need of reporting, CSR standards and other important aspects with help of real life examples. Being from PSU background he highlighted the activities of Public Sector Units in the domain of Social Responsibility.
Dr. K K Upadhyay, Head CSR- FICCI shared with the audience, his rich experience in the domain of CSR. He discussed about the Cultural, Policy and Governance issues and their impact on social initiatives by organizations across the globe.
Ms. Harsha Mukherjee, Editor- INDIACSR discussed about the need of sharing of information and experiences in the CSR and sustainability practices. She shared journey of INDIACSR (India’s Largest CSR Network).
At the end, summarizing the whole discussion, Prof. (Dr.) AN Sarkar guided the students towards the role of CSR in corporate and individuals in the society in the form of awareness about the climate and sustainable development. Director Dr. D K Batra thanked the distinguished speakers for sparing their time and addressing the audience at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi. Organising team comprising of Prof. Saurabh Mittal, Dr. Veena Tewari and Dr. Poonam Kumar thanked the speakers and management of the institute for the motivation and support extended to organise this event.
